A Scavenger Hunt in the Attic

June 17th, 2009 at 4:11 am

A customer brought me a great idea for "Girls' Night Out."   How about a scavenger hunt at Aunt Jennie's Attic?  I excitedly wrote up all the possibilities...and I went on so long that my blog session timed out and everything disappeared.  Anyway, the idea is for groups of 16 or less to gather at Aunt Jennie's to search the attic (and the cellar) for a list of treasures such as a Jade-ite dish, a fishing lure, and minnow bucket made into a light, an old suitcase, hair clippers, a candle with an apple scent, something with the word AVON on it, a picture that is more than 75 years old, a swanky swig glass, a watch fob, a woman's hat, and so on.  You could work as teams or individuals and possible prizes could be discount coupons for store merchandise.

Let me know what you think of the idea at   I am also putting new items up for sale soon, so check back often.  Somethng on the scavenger list just might be on the product page of the website at

Roseville and Hull pottery New Additions

May 19th, 2009 at 5:08 am

A Roseville Green Snowberry bowl and a Hull Bow Knot 6 1/2 in. basket are the latest additions to Aunt Jennie's Attic.  Both are in perfect condition.  I also have 2 Hull Wildflower vases as well as 2 smaller Roseville and the other Hull, that I am working on identifying.  For pink flamingo fans, I have a set of Maddux flamingos with a free form low dish that they set in.  Very stiriking. These will soon be pictured and priced for sale on my products pages, so keep coming back.  I acquired a whole house full of treasures over the weekend.  Must sell some, as I am running out of room in my 3000 sq ft. store.... If you are interested, email for more details.

Blue Garland China photos

May 13th, 2009 at 4:22 pm

Blue Garland china by Johann Haviland has become a very popular collectible.  I have for sale 72 pieces, including 12 each of dinner plates, bread and butter plates, cups and saucers, and sauce dishes, 4 flat soup bowls suitable for serving, covered vegetable, beverage server, cream and sugar, and large platter.  (I counted the lids as pieces). There are no chips, cracks, or scratches on any of the pieces.  They show no wear of any kind. You can see this set at Aunt Jennie's Attic in Mount Ayr, IA. They will be listed for sale on the products page soon.  Questions?  Call me or email me at

Welcome to Aunt Jennie's Attic. I will attempt to keep you informed of what's going on at Aunt Jennie's at least once a week on this blogsite.  I just got another batch of cashew crunch yesterday, so I should be pretty well supplied for the next month.  We still have a few bags of heath-type bars while supplies last.  This will probably be the end of the chocolate candy until fall.  Also, more of Sally's famous soy candles should be here by the end of this week...the ones in the white enamelware containers. Spring scents plus your old favorites like creme brulee and basil sage and mint, lilac, and more.

If you are a Blue Garland china collector, I found a set last weekend.  I have service for 8 and service for 4...different cup styles.  There are several serving pieces with this set.  I also have 5 Imperial Candlewick cups and saucers in mint condition for those interested in that pattern. I will try to get some pictures on the site by the first of next week.
