Art Deco Saturn Lamp

August 10th, 2009 at 5:45 am
This exquisite Art Deco Saturn lamp, a fine example of Art Deco lighting, was inspired by the 1939 World's Fair.  It is made of frosted pink glass and has reverse painted stars, moons an planets on the inside of the glass. The shade is in 2 parts with a metal rod for the axis and a ring section attached to the bottom part of the shade.  The globe is tilted with a finial at the top and the light switch at the bottom of the axis.  The base is a step design common in the art deco fashion of the day.  The lamp is in working order and has just a few places in the top part of the globe where the painted shapes have flaked, probably due to heat from the bulb.  The ring section, which was often damaged, is in perfect condition.  Guaranteed to be the real thing, not a reproduction, this lamp is for sale for $550 plus shipping and insurance.  It would be the perfect addition to your Art Deco or World's Fair collection.  Please email me to check on shipping and insurance costs at or you can pick up at Aunt Jennie's Attic, 114 West Madison, Mount Ayr, IA 50854
