I'm turning over a new leaf. I'm planning to add at least one post to this blog per week to let you know what's new at Aunt Jennie's Attic. Today I'm starting with some vintage dishes. In this picture you'll see 3 types of dishes, all made by the Homer Loughlin company. The plate is Fiestaware from the early 50s . The cup and saucer are the more angular Harlequin pattern. The pitcher is relatively new small disk pitcher. The colors are about the same so you can mix and match patterns according to what's available

The First Annual Ayrloom Vintage Market will be a new part of the traditional Ayr Days celebration this year on Saturday, July 23rd in Mount Ayr, Iowa. Located on the north side of the Mount Ayr square, the market will feature antiques, flea market and shabby chic items, and an array of treasures that have been recycled and repurposed for other uses. Vendors will be coming from central and southern Iowa to display their merchandise from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on that day. Hope you will join us to find some Ayrloom treasures for yourself. While you are there, come in and visit Aunt Jennie's Attic, also on the north side of the square.
Other attractions of the celebration will include inflatables and kid zone low cost and free activities for kids, car, motorcycle, and tractor shows, a parade, entertainment on the stage, antique appraisals, the annual "Smokin' in the Ayr" barbeque contest, and more. For more information, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
I am pleased to have had some more activity on my website...thanks to those who have ordered and inquired. It has been a busy season at Aunt Jennie's Attic and hopefully that trend will continue into 2011. I also have listings for sale at www.cyberattic.com and a video of my shop at a new website www.iantique.com. For some pictures of holiday decor offered at Aunt Jennies, check out our page on facebook and check "like."
The latest in the Landmarks of Mount Ayr series of ornaments is being offered for sale for $8.00. It is the same design as last year's with a picture of the public library instead of the courthouse. (see last Dec. blog) It is a beautiful picture, and they turned out even better than last year's I think. You Mount Ayr, IA residents and former residents will want to get your order in soon. I have sold over half of the 150 that were ordered this year. We still have some of the courthouse ornaments, too. Willow Tree angels and nativity are available as well as WoodWick candles. We also have an interesting variety of antiques and collectibles for decorating and display. Look for more ideas on how to use antiques and collectible in your decor during Jan. and Feb. It will soon be time to confront the post holiday blahs, and what better way to do that than to repurpose your "stuff" for a fresh, new look.
Best wishes for a happy and prosperous new year!

Finally, most of the snow has melted and it is time to think about SPRING! It's time to freshen up your decor and try something new. One group of new colors being shown in the latest home fashion magazines is a combination of bright cheerful colors...red-orange and gold, combined with a dark green color. Aunt Jennie's Attic has a display to give you some ideas on how you might accomplish this in your own home.
Included in the picture are flower arrangements in orange and gold tones, a Frankoma planter in orange flame color, gold colored glass from Virginia Glass Company, a unique cookie jar with a wrapped handle, Carnival glass by Fenton, and electric candles in rustic holders. A Mexican feather picture of a tropical bird fills in the background. The table runner by Theanna ties it all together and adds the dark green color to the palette. All of these items are available in Aunt Jennie's Attic. Email me for details and costs.
Here's a sample from the collection that arrived in Aunt Jennie's Attic just in time for Valentine's Day. We have a collection of over 100 vintage 1930's and 40's valentines traded by school children 75 to 80 years ago. They are suitable for framing or display. Many are mechanical, with moving parts. Others are folded to "hide" part of the picture, and many are just extraordinarily cute valentines from times gone by. Other valentines are for sale on my new antiques and collectible website on www.cyberattic.com. Look for the shop...Aunt Jennie's Attic. New items will be added there daily and can be picked up at the store or purchased using paypal. There won't be enough time to add them all, so if you are in the area, stop in and see for yourself. You will get a 10% discount off the web price if you print this blog and bring it to the store in person.
Happy New Year and best wishes to you for a great 2010! If you have items you would like us to offer or suggesions for our store or website for the coming year, please add a comment and we will get in touch with you for details.

Shipping is $2.00 per ornament and small clear acrylic stands are also available for $2.00 each. Reserve yours today!
The Mount Ayr Iowa Chamber of Commerce is offering the first ornament in its Landmark Series featuring the Ringgold County Courthouse. A customer brought me a great idea for "Girls' Night Out." How about a scavenger hunt at Aunt Jennie's Attic? I excitedly wrote up all the possibilities...and I went on so long that my blog session timed out and everything disappeared. Anyway, the idea is for groups of 16 or less to gather at Aunt Jennie's to search the attic (and the cellar) for a list of treasures such as a Jade-ite dish, a fishing lure, and minnow bucket made into a light, an old suitcase, hair clippers, a candle with an apple scent, something with the word AVON on it, a picture that is more than 75 years old, a swanky swig glass, a watch fob, a woman's hat, and so on. You could work as teams or individuals and possible prizes could be discount coupons for store merchandise.
Let me know what you think of the idea at firstname.lastname@example.org. I am also putting new items up for sale soon, so check back often. Somethng on the scavenger list just might be on the product page of the website at www.auntjenniesattic.com
Please send me some feedback! I am new at website development and putting my business on the web and would appreciate any opinions or constructive ideas on making my website better. Please contact me at email@example.com. Thanks for your help.
